INTRODUCTION: Ecovillage Georgia is an intentional community which aims to create a sustainable, ecological and low impact residential community in rural Georgia. It is represented by a group of Georgian and international people. After an extensive search, involving numerous land visits, we have discovered a remarkable 6.5-hectare plot of land in the Lagodekhi municipality of Kakheti, nestled at the foot of the Greater Caucasus mountains. This land harmoniously aligns with our vision for ecovillage. Currently, we are in the initial stage of building the first ecovillage in the South Caucasus.
VOLUNTEERING AT ECOVILLAGE GEORGIA: So far, we’ve hosted quite a number of volunteers on the land—probably more than 50 people—most of whom were friends or friends of friends. As you may have noticed, we don’t yet use any official platform to invite volunteers, since we’re still in the process of improving our living conditions. However, when someone reaches out, we’re always happy to welcome them and share what we have—even if it’s simple. We deeply appreciate your contribution to the land. There’s always so much to do—and just as much to learn and share from one another.
COMMUNITY LIFE – WHAT TO EXPECT? We welcome each person as they are. Our experience is that everyone will find a task they are comfortable with, building, gardening, cleaning, cooking, sharing, providing workshops, etc. We work on average 5-6 hours per day. We cook and eat two – three vegetarian meals per day together, and we take turns in preparation and cleaning. In the community kitchen, we don’t consume meat. We drink on special occasions in moderation. No drugs allowed. We welcome pets if they are tolerant of other animals. We have a cat, dog, and there are cows and chickens around, and sometimes there are other street or pet dogs.
ACCOMMODATION: Yes, we camp on the land. Since we have a couple of vacant tents, we can offer them to volunteers. However, if you have your own tent and sleeping bag, please bring them. Note: please check in advance with the contact person if there are vacant tents before you come:) The temperature on the land is quite pleasant and suitable for camping from early April to November. Additionally, we have spots inside the barn where you can comfortably camp on top of the straw, providing more shade and shelter.
FINANCIAL PART Considering the current situation in the country and the region, we are currently unable to provide full financial support for volunteers. All expenses—such as vegetables, food, and fuel—are covered personally by community members. We do our best to provide basic staple foods in bulk, such as legumes and other simple ingredients. If volunteers have specific dietary needs or preferences beyond what is provided, they are kindly asked to take care of those themselves.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
