Newsletter October

Dear friends,

Another update from Ninigori here! We hope you are doing well and keep strong in these turbulent times. Even though days are getting shorter, the nights are cold and politics rough, we managed to get quite a lot of things done in the last month.

We plastered the first layer of our corridor, co-working space and several rooms with a mixture of earth and straw. This layer fills up the bigger holes, and will be followed with a second and third layer to smoothen the walls. The process is time consuming, as we do everything by hand, including mixing and cutting straw. Thanks to our hardworking volunteers and group members, we managed to do it.

Since long evenings and nights got very cold, we managed to buy a subsidized energy efficient stove that keeps us warm. The stove runs on wood, brickets, nutshells or sticks, and uses up to 50% less firewood than conventional stoves due to its double combustion mechanism and air flow regulation. We already made mchadi (Georgian corn flatbread) in the oven and cooked some of our meals on it, saving on fossil gas!

We hosted an amazing vegan community dinner, prepared by our supporter Elene Duchava, followed by a tour and plastering workshop, led by Giorgi Tchochua in October. Check out the amazing pictures here.

We were excited to welcome CCA – Center of Contemporary Art – Tbilisi for a visit and tour on 16th of November.

We almost can not believe that we bought the land one year ago on 14th of December.

With the support of the Goethe Institute Tbilisi we will organize an excursion and birthday party on the 7th of December with an exciting program that will include a tour, a vegan meal and world café discussion! We will also host ‘Climate Games’ in Tbilisi in the coming weeks. So please follow the link and feel invited to join and to not miss the chance to meet us in person!

We are beyond grateful for all the support that we receive from our friends and supporters for our GoFundMe campaign and generous donations of furniture and construction materials. We’d like to ask you once again to share the information, so that more people can join in.The video is amazing and gives a good impression of our summer vibes, so do check it out!

                                 warm blessings and greetings,
