Newsletter January

A bit belated, we want to wish you a happy, regenerative and peaceful new year.

During the holiday season we were not able to spend much time on the land, and we took some much-needed rest, planning ahead for the next seasons, while also protesting the Georgian Dream’s increasingly authoritarian policies on Rustaveli and other places.

We have our land already one year!

We look back on a turbulent year in awe and gratitude. Most important are the amazing people that have gathered around our initiative; we have a strong and committed core group, amazing volunteers, supporters and donors. We have received invaluable moral, practical, material and spiritual support from each other. Thanks to you, we have accomplished a lot on the land, making it a comfortable space we truly love, from where to jumpstart the next steps ahead.

  • We have had our very first general assembly with our prospective residents, volunteers and loaners in December, where we made important decisions on management and next steps.

  • We have made energy balls out of our hazelnuts and distributed them during the public protest on Rustaveli Ave. on New Year’s Eve.

  • One of the most exciting tasks for the coming months is to complete the architectural planning of the general land and arrangement and planning of residential houses. For a preview, check out the virtual tour of the land on our website.

  • Another good news is that we will not be registered as so-called ‘Foreign Agents’ in 2025, as we avoided receiving foreign funding on our bank account in 2024.

  • Now we are in search of solutions to ensure our financial sustainability, which includes our crowdfunding campaign. Many thanks to our generous donors <3 for the received support. Please consider donating too and/or sharing our initiative on social media.

Our planned birthday celebration on 14th of December was postponed, due to the tense political situation. However, we are excited for spring and summer, as we plan to organize many other community events and celebrations. The first one this year was pruning our trees on 1st and 2nd of February, many more happenings are to follow.

In 2025 we look forward to welcoming hopefully many of you on the land, to exciting projects, bonfires, regeneration and to offering strength, hope and resilience amith of the ongoing democratic crackdown and repressions.
